3 (or more) Professional video cameras:

We've really got two issues here - the quality of the video cameras and the quantity.

We use Sony VX2100s for standard video or in low light, and Sony FX1s for hi-def. These (and the PD-170) are widely regarded as the best-suited video cameras for wedding videography, and for good reason. Weddings are low-light affairs. It may not seem low-light to you, but compared to the average studio with its bright halogen lights, the average church, chapel and reception hall are very dim.

Even some of the finest video cameras in the world, like the GL2; XL2; DX100; etc. do not capture vivid colors and even get grainy when they don't have bright lights to work with. Many wedding videographers are aspiring movie producers who prefer these camcorders over those better suited for weddings. We are only interested in producing a wedding video that will delight you for many years and we're quite willing to leave Hollywood to the Steven Speilbergs out there.

Why 3 or more video cameras?

The obvious answer is that they give us more opportunity to catch those priceless moments that could easily be missed with fewer video cameras.

Also, and perhaps without realizing it, you've become accustomed to watching TV and movies that were shot with multiple camcorders (three, four or more) and then edited so that the views switch artfully. Viewing a one or two camcorder wedding video would likely put a sophisticated TV watcher to sleep after a few times. By having a video camera at the rear, one on the groom's side and one on the bride's side of the ceremony, we're guaranteed to deliver the finest possible coverage of your wedding ceremony. Multiple video cameras make your reception video much more watchable also.
